Blanket making is starting in September and we need help. Over the years, since 1976, we have dwindled from 20 to 22 people down to 3 to 5 people to help.
From 1976 to 1994 we sent approximately 40 to 50 blankets a year. Since 1995 till now, we have sent 2,372 blankets to Lutheran World Relief to be distributed wherever needed in the United States and throughout the world.
Since 2007, another project at the request of the Salem Regional Hospital Center is walker bags. About 20 to 25 bags are needed a month.
The materials for blankets and the heavier materials for bags are all donated by generous donors.
Another project has been 40 (afghans and quillows) for the newly baptized five-year-olds and under children. We are sorry to say we are unable to continue this project as of September first.
Needless to say we are in dire need of help. We need people to sort, iron, tie knots, piece, pin, cut material, and to use the sewing machines.
In ending, we thank everyone who has donated materials and spools of thread. Most of time people drop off items and we don't know who they were.
Blessings to all,
