A
child is a wonderful gift from God. At Emmanuel Lutheran Church, we
have designed a wide variety of ministries to meet the needs of
children and their families. “Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.” Proverbs 22:6 Cradle Roll - The Cradle Roll Program recognizes that our youngest members are also an important part of Emmanuel Lutheran Church. Cradle Roll members are children newborn to three years of age. This program provides families with materials and resources which educate them regarding normal growth and development of babies and toddlers, provides great ideas regarding age-appropriate activities to do with little ones, and most importantly shares how parents can provide a God centered home for their families. Please remember that even though the little ones receive materials until the age of three, we do have a two-year old Sunday School class that we would love to have them be a part of when they turn two! Children in Worship - Worship services involve children in many ways, such as the Children’s Message, the blessing of children during Holy Communion, and children’s activity bags are available for worship, which are filled with quiet activities for the children. Children’s Worship -Children’s Worship (for ages 18 months through 2nd grade) takes place every Sunday morning during the 10:30am Worship Service (after the Children’s Message) in the Church Nursery. Parents are always welcome to come down and get their children to participate with them in communion. Children’s Worship is a time to focus on Jesus and God’s Word and is a special time for worship and praise in a way that young children can actively participate and understand. We pray, practice the Lord’s Prayer, sing, learn a bible story and do a lesson, complete a craft, and the children have the last 10 to 15 minutes to play together and socialize. Children's Worship is not held between Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends. Sunday School - Emmanuel Lutheran Church offers Sunday School for children ages three through high school age every week at 9:15 a.m. Sunday School takes place in the Education Building. Children learn about Jesus, pray together, sing together, and have fun! Bible Stories are taught in a variety of active ways linking Bible learning with daily life experiences. Bibles - Children receive a Bible prior to entering their first grade year at school. Vacation Bible School - Vacation Bible School is five evenings of summer fun that focuses on Jesus through singing, lessons, games, and crafts. Children’s Easter Celebration - The Children’s Easter Celebration is held during our 10:30am Worship Service on Easter and is a time for the children to complete Easter crafts, have an Easter Egg Hunt, and hear the story of Holy Week. Children’s Christmas Pageant - Emmanuel Lutheran Church’s annual Christmas Pageant is a wonderful way to keep Christ at the center of our Advent season. Join us as our children share the story of Christ’s birth. Our program is followed by our Christmas Café. Children’s Christmas Eve Service - Our Children’s Christmas Eve Service is at 6:00pm. This service is geared towards children and we include the children in the service. First Communion: Communion instruction is offered for third graders as they prepare to receive the Lord’s Supper for the first time. This instruction is offered during the season of Lent. Catechism: Catechism classes are held for youth in 7th and 8th grades. It is a two year program that covers Luther’s Small Catechism one year and The Bible the next. At the end of catechetical instruction, the student is confirmed, affirming their baptism and celebrating the gift of the Holy Spirit given in baptism. “Jesus
said, ‘Let the little children come to me, and do not stop them; for it
is to such as these that the kingdom of heaven belongs.” Matthew 19:14 The congregation of Emmanuel Lutheran Church walks with children and families in their faith journeys, following Christ’s example of the inclusion of children. As the world constantly increases its demands of our time and energy, we help families focus on the importance of living in relationship with God. To contact us:
